Liechtenstein: its flag

Adopted in 1921, Liechtenstein’s flag carried the blue of the sky and the red of the evening fires, colours the principality had already used since the 19th century.

In 1936, its Olympic delegation discovered in Berlin that it was identical to Haiti’s: Prince Franz I added a gold crown in 1937, symbolising the union between the people and the monarchy.
