Grenada’s flag, adopted at independence on 7 February 1974, combines two yellow triangles (top and bottom) and two green ones (at the ends), the whole framed by a red border bearing seven yellow five-pointed stars: the island’s seven parishes, the seventh at the centre marking the capital, St George’s.
At the tip of the left-hand triangle sits a stylised nutmeg pod, the only element kept from the former colonial flag: Grenada is the world’s second-largest producer, earning it the nickname “Isle of Spice”.
