Comoros at a glance: its flag, its capital Moroni, its population and where it sits on the world map. Plus a way to test yourself afterwards.
Adopted on 23 December 2001 under the new constitution meant to reunify the archipelago after Anjouan and Mohéli seceded, the flag reuses a crescent and four stars that had appeared in various forms since independence in 1975.
Each of the four horizontal stripes, yellow, white, red and blue, stands for one of the islands making up the Union, including Mayotte despite it remaining French; the green triangle and the crescent recall Islam, the country's majority religion.
No land border.
